The booths will be circling the square, both near the courthouse and in front of the sidewalks. Some booths will have electricity. Various games and competitions will continue through midday. Booths will be set up selling food items and crafts. The farmers market will also hold their final meeting of the season here. Anyone still interested in a booth or if you have questions concerning a booth, you may contact Janie at the Southern Bank in Alton, Missouri.

How About Contests

On Saturday morning, three separate contests will be open. A pumpkin carving contest begins at 11:30 right on the courthouse lawn. These entries need to be in by 10:00 am., also by the chamber booth. Each of the contests is free with prizes awarded afterward.

Live Performances

The Chamber has planned for a stage on the corner of the square. Beginning with the opening ceremonies with the Boy Scouts, the school choirs follow. Awards for century farms is just preceding lunch. Then comes the Walnut Idol contest (a local favorite) and Professional singing groups. An annual quilt turning begins at 10:00 am at the Alton Community Worship Center. The local 4H group will have a presence with a booth hosting games and activities for all ages.

This is a family event with nothing that the children’s’ ears or eyes need to be covered for. This can be an all-day event or come for different favorite parts. Expect to enjoy yourself on the square.
