Detroit MI. – Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chief’s quarterback, gave an inspirational speech in the last quarter of the game against the Detroit Lions last Sunday. With less than three minutes left on the clock, all hope was looking lost for the Chiefs as they prepared to make their final drive.

No Hero

The Chiefs were down three points with about 2:26 to play and needed a touchdown. Patrick Mahomes led the team in a 79-yards, and 13 plays to get the touchdown and the field goal. They managed to control the clock for one minute twenty-six seconds. That led them to win the game 34-30.

Speech

Before their final drive down the field to make a touchdown that would allow them to win the game, Mahomes gave a pep talk on the sideline to hype up the team. “We do not have to do anything else other than being ourselves. I truly believe that,” Mahomes told his team.

“If we just be ourselves and trust in each other, we will go down there, we can put points up, we can do what we do. Don’t try to go out there and do everything for yourself. Believe in your teammate. Believe in each other. And when we get these opportunities, we’ll go down and find a way to win the game. Let’s do it right here. Let’s go.”

Immediately following his speech, the Chiefs drove down the field and made a touchdown and field goal in two minutes and three seconds- leaving just 23 seconds left on the clock and ensuring their victory.
