Its been a couple of days since it was August 5th, but August 5th was National “Work Like a Dog” Day. Dogs are considered mans best friend. And especially in recent years, more people have gotten dogs.

Working Dogs

While most big dogs do work, except for the occasionally lazy one. There is even a Working Group of dog breeds. The dogs include the Boxer, Siberian Husky, German Shepherd, Doberman, Bullmastiff, Great Pyrenees, Great Dane, Alaskan Malamute, and the Bernese Mountain Dog. Dobermans and German Shepherds are used in the army and the police and as guard dogs. The Siberian Husky is used as a sled dog. These dogs have great work ethic.

Mirror Them

One thing we can learn from dogs is their work ethic. The German Shepherd and Doberman are always working, whether it’s guarding homes, helping the police or army out. They’re always on the call. We can learn from them to not to be lazy but to work. The Bible says, “He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.”

Work Out

You can work your dog out while also working yourself (or exercising depending on how you look at it). You can go for a run with your companion- aka, your dog. You can also set up an obstacle course and have your dog go through it. For more competition, you can get your friends to come over with their dogs and see who has the fastest time.

Celebrate National “Work Like a Dog” Day by staying busy, accomplishing things, and working out your dog!
