Attending the capitol’s homeschool day is a great opportunity for homeschoolers. As they celebrate 40 years of protecting and fighting for Missouri homeschool freedoms, Families for Home Education invite you to join them on this very special day. This is a great idea to make an all-day event.

When Is This Meeting?

FHE Homeschool Day in Missouri is on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. Planned activities begin at 10:30 am on the outside steps for a formal photo shoot. The planned events end at 2:00 pm.

Where Is This?

This homeschooling fun is held in Jefferson City at the Capitol building. There are free and paid parking lots nearby. It is approximately 175 miles from Alton to Jefferson City. Hotels are available within walking distance.

Who Can Come? Who Will Be There?

FHE encourages all homeschooled families to attend and support homeschooling. While at the capitol, one can meet with our senator and representative if one makes previous arrangements. For Alton, our representative is Representative Atchison. Alton has Senator Bean in the senate. The Capitol offers frequent tours. After the outside photo, inside the rotunda, elected officials will speak concerning home education. The FHE lobbyist will also speak on legislation coming in front of our senator and representative. All ages can attend this event.

What Else?

One can go to the FHE website here to get ideas on how to maximize your stay at the Capitol. It lists field trip ideas as well as parking reminders. Keep in mind that everyone entering the Capitol is required to go through security. It is best to plan on waiting in line before entering the Capitol.

The day will be busy meeting other homeschooled families from across Missouri. While you listen to speakers talk of their own history in homeschooling, you may get encouraged in your homeschool walk.
