Do you ever pick up a stick and wonder what kind of tree it came from? While trees do not have leaves in the winter, the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is hosting a free virtual class to help attendees identify trees merely by their bark, twigs, or fruit.
What Is This?
Staff at the Shepherd of the Hills Conservation Education Center will host two virtual sessions focused on Intro to Tree ID: from 11 a.m. to noon on January 10 and from 6-7 p.m. on January 13.
MDC Naturalist Leah Eden will share what to notice to help participants identify trees by their twigs, fruits, and bark. Two sessions are provided to manage anticipated high attendance, but registrants are asked to sign up for only one session to leave space for others.
Cost?
Save your money while you learn! There is no cost to attend, as each class is virtual. However, registration is required.
You can register for the January 10 session by Jan. 8 at https://mdc-event-web.s3licensing.com/Event/EventDetails/214281
You can register for the January 13 event by Jan. 9 at https://mdc-event-web.s3licensing.com/Event/EventDetails/214282
Registrants must provide an email address so a program link can be sent to them. For this program and the anticipated high volume of viewers, only one registration will be needed per screen for multiple participants at the same location.
Who Can Attend?
The virtual program is open to all ages, and both presentations will be the same.
What an interesting way to learn more about your neighborhood- learning its plants.
