Mark your calendars! Free fishing is just around the corner. Time to go outdoors with the family, breathe the fresh air, and catch some fish! Missouri offers a weekend to fish for free. That means no fishing license is required for any age. On these two days, fishermen from across the state can fish without purchasing a fishing permit, trout permit, or daily trout tag. Some restrictions do apply.

When Is This?

Missouri free fishing days come the first weekend after the first Monday in June. This year, the dates are June 7-8, 2025.

This weekend is open to anyone in Missouri.

What Restrictions?

All fishing regulations, such as size and daily limits, remain in effect. User fees and permits may still be required at county, city, or private fishing areas. Standard regulations, such as size and daily limits, also apply. Additionally, it is not permissible to trespass to fish on a homeowner’s property.

What Else?

Many conservation areas offer Free Fishing Days programs, offering gear you can use at no charge. As state parks and conservation areas are expected to see increased visitation during the weekend, MDC recommends checking local fishing reports and area regulations ahead of time.
