The Great American Eclipse is coming. It is in this year! We no longer count in months but days! The date for the eclipse is April 8, which is less than 3 months away! Are you getting ready? Whether you live in Alton or not, the eclipse will feel like a four day holiday.

Nationwide Preparedness

The states that are in the path of the eclipse are well along in the preparation stages. With concerts, fairs, food, and fun, they are drawing multitudes to their own city for this experience. Right now, thirteen states in the path have plans. Only New Hampshire is withholding the fun. From Texas to Maine, cities and states are getting their vendors lined up, spaces ready, and reservations are taken.

Missouri

Not to be left out, Missouri residents are also making plans. Thayer is working with Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, to double the fun. West Plains has an online presence that shows its plans. This gets added to frequently. Runs, food trucks, and even a dodgeball tournament were added. They also have listed places to participate in the eclipse, which will have food trucks.

While Alton residents get past the holidays, plans will also come to place here.

Van Buren, Sikeston, and Poplar Bluff are also some of the cities on the pathway that are making plans. You can check out the list here of Missouri cities and other sites that are already making preparations.

Besides concerts, Missouri cities plan face painting, parades, runs, carnivals, and fireworks.

Even if you are not in Alton on Monday, April 8, you may want to plan your time around the eclipse. If you do want to see the total eclipse, plan to be at your place at least two hours before the start. Traffic can be a hurdle on the day of the eclipse.
