Oh, sure, baby animals are prevalent in the spring and look irresistible. But that does not allow you to gather them in your arms and take them home! Baby animals are left in seclusion while a parent searches for food or another den. That does Not mean they are abandoned.
MDC Urges
The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) urges residents to view wildlife only, not to interfere with it. Interfering can do more harm than good. Baby birds are a common wildlife that one wants to step in and assist. Leave it alone as it learns to fly and flutter.
Care
When you do find baby animals, keep your pets away and leave the area. Bunnies seldom survive captivity when born in the wild.  Dogs catching baby rabbits and lawn mowers running over nests are other common issues.
Growing Animals
Wildlife can become dangerous as they mature, carrying parasites and diseases and damaging property. Some of these diseases and parasites can be transmitted to humans and cause significant harm.
Although tempting to take them into homes, the best help people can offer wild animals is to leave them alone.
