Thayer, Mo. – Earlier this month, Representative Smith announced the winner of the Congressional Art Competition. With students from all over the state competing for this honor, Skyler Todd from Thayer High School won the event. AltonMo.com sends congratulations his way.

When Did The Contest Happen?

This contest was announced earlier this year, with submissions due by April 9, 2021 [1].

When Was The Winner Announced?

The top fifteen artists within a congressional district were recognized at a reception. At this reception, Representative Smith announced Skyler Todd as the winner.

What Does The Winner Receive?

Skyler gets a chance to travel to Washington D.C. to be celebrated in an awards ceremony [2]. His winning artwork will hang in the US Capitol for the next year. When he travels to Washington DC, he will compete with this piece in a national convention.

What Did He Enter?

Skyler followed the directions for submitting an original piece of art [3]. He actually submitted two pieces of art that were both taken into consideration for winning. However, it was the acrylic rooster that won the prize. A complete list of the runners up and titles of their artworks is found here.

Details Of The Contest

High schoolers in Representative Smith’s district may enter up to two items. This contest is open to those in public school, private school, or home schooled.
