The Missouri Department of Conservation has announced that it is now accepting applications for the bear and elk permits for 2022. This permit application process is only applicable through the month of May. Here are the details.

Elk Hunting

The time is now to apply for an elk permit. Through the month of May, an application is only $10. This allows a Missouri resident a chance to draw a 2022 Missouri resident antlered elk permit. Results will be available by July 1. The elk season is two-fold. The archery season is from October 15, 2022 through October 23, 2022. Meanwhile, the firearm section is from December 10, 2022 through December 18, 2022.  There is a limit of 1 elk with at least 1 antler no less than 6′. For complete information, you can go to the conservation web site here.

Bear Hunting

As in the case of applying for an elk permit, one also applies for a bear permit. Only throughout the month of May, one can apply for a chance to draw a 2022 Missouri resident black bear permit. Results will also be public by July 1, 2022. For black bears, Missouri is divided into three zones. Oregon County is located in zone 2. Each county is allowed a certain number of permits and a certain quota of bears. Other regulations like harvesting a bear and calling before hunting are also necessary for these hunts. Bear season is from October 17, 2022, through October 26, 2022. For further information about the black bear season, please click here.
