Alton, Mo. – All around Oregon County, Missouri, residents celebrate our nation’s Independence Day. Beginning before the actual fourth of July, the celebrating begins. Besides tents strung up selling fireworks, here are some local celebrations.

County Seat Festivities in Alton, Mo

Right in the county seat, Alton, Missouri, celebrating begins on Wednesday, July 3, 2019. Piney Creek Park opens for children’s games and live music, followed by the color guard and then the fireworks display.

Thayer Celebrates

Just down the road from Alton is Thayer, MO. The scene of fun will be the Thayer High School. After opening the gates at 5:00 p.m. a live band begins performing.  At 6:00 p.m. the color guard arrives and air evac makes a helicopter landing. Skydivers jump into the scene at 6:30 p.m. Food and activities will be at the site, along with free watermelon.  A terrific fireworks show commences at 9:00 p.m.

Thomasville Independence Day Observance

Thomasville, Missouri is just north of Alton. Once again, the residents have fun on the fourth. The excitement begins at 4:00 p.m. with a cornhole tournament. They, too, will have free games for the children. Food will be available, besides a pie auction. Live music begins at 8:00 p.m. Fireworks closes the night.
