Vintage WW II Planes On Display In Springfield This Weekend

Are you a history buff? Springfield-Branson National Airport might be an enjoyable place to spend the holiday weekend if you want some “hands-on history.” They are showing historical WWII aircraft over this weekend.

The AirPower History Tour will give attendees a glimpse into World War II aviation’s sights, sounds, and stories from Wednesday, August 30, through Labor Day, September 4. In addition to viewing the aircraft up close, visitors can purchase rides as well as tour the cockpits of the B-29 and B-24 when they are not flying.

What Is Happening?

WWII aircraft will be on display in Springfield this weekend only. The popular B-29 will be there, along with other vintage aircraft. On each day, some of the aircraft, including the B-29, will offer rides. One can purchase tickets to tour the cockpits, too.

When Is This?

This exciting step into time begins Wednesday, August 30, 2023, and continues through Monday, September 4, 2023. Each day, the show is open to the public from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Where Is This?

The Springfield-Branson National Airport will host the aircraft near the Expedia Office Complex. The address to the airport is 5000 West Kearney St., Springfield, MO 65803.

Purpose?

Per Jacques Robitaille, the Tour Media Liaison for the Commemorative Air Force, the purpose of this show is

to honor, educate, and inspire [1].

He went on to say.

It’s to honor the men who flew them and the women who built them [2].

Cost?

Access to the ramp where the aircraft are parked is $20 for adults and $10 for children ages 11-17. This event is free for children ten and under.

So, bring the entire family to this historical event. Everyone from grandparents to young children will love to see these planes.
