Alton, Mo. – The month of May has come to a close and June is right upon us. In case you missed some happenings in May or you want to know what’s happening in June, here’s a review and preview.
Review of May
May had lots of events happening. People went from one thing to the next.
National Day of Prayer
The National Day of Prayer took place all across the United States on May 5, 2022. Citizens in Alton gathered together to pray for state and federal officials.
The Oregon County Farmer’s Market opened on May 7th. There is a variety of vendors selling a variety of goods including breads, peppers, pecans, birdhouses, handmade cards, and more. The farmer’s market will go on through October.
A highlight for everyone especially over the Memorial Day weekend was the pools opening. Both the West Plains and Alton pool opened on May 28th. Perfect for a hot summer day.
While June does not have as much going on, there are two events happening people are looking forward to.
Heart of the Ozarks Fair
The Heart of the Ozarks Fair is happening from June 6-11th and the carnival is happening from June 7th-11th. You can check out the animals, baked goods, and vegetables being judged and you can compete in games and have fun on the rides. Check back later for more information.
For all the fishermen out there, this weekend is right for you. On June 11th and 12th, you can fish in the rivers without a permit. While I have only caught branches, you might have better luck and be able to catch a fish! More information coming soon.
