Representative Pogue ran and won overwhelmingly the last three terms for Missouri State Representative. He wore large shoes that will be difficult to fill. Nonetheless, he has term-limited out and is not planning on another political office at this time. Trying to take his place are five Republican candidates that district 143 (here in Oregon County, MO) need to acquaint themselves with. No Democrats or other party members are running for this office according to the Secretary of State [1].

Jack Bates

Bates is a native of Thayer and a local businessman. He is a registered nurse although he held an EMT Paramedic license for 20 years. He is on the board of directors for OMC. His three main messages for running are Christian conservative, pro-life, and pro-second amendment. He is interested in jobs, education, and infrastructure. Actually, Bates believes that creating good-paying jobs will be one of the state’s greatest challenges over the next decade. He wants to fight overregulation. For pro-life, he wants to make adoption less expensive.  All levels of education need to get fully funded. As a new item, he wants to promote high-speed internet to everyone.

William Parsons

Parsons is the next candidate for representative. We couldn’t find more information about Parsons other than his home is in Salem, Mo. We are currently trying to get more information regarding his stands on various issues out to voters before August 4.

Frank DeVenuto

DeVenuto lives in Salem, MO. He is 100% pro-life. Besides that, he is an NRA member. He aims to “cut taxes and regulations” and stop “unconstitutional government overreach.” He was in the Navy. He says he lives by the Word of God and he uses it to teach at a local elementary public school. His website for running as a representative is here.

Jaret Holden

Holden lives on a farm in Birch Tree. He says he is a pro-second amendment, pro-life, pro-Trump,  firm believer in constitutional rights and will fight against gun-grab laws, will protect life from conception, opposes illegal immigration, will defend property rights. He also stated that he “believes in smaller government” and “greater personal freedom.” His stance on taxes includes lower taxes and easing government regulations. He also states that he will, “fight to make it easier to start and run a business.” [2]

Ron Copeland

Copeland lives in Salem, Mo. He is married with children and a granddaughter. He is a veteran, NRA member, and former highway patrolman. He is endorsed by the Missouri Teachers Association. He aims to defend rural values and constitutional rights. He says he will advocate for jobs, education, and economic growth, among other things. He says he wants to put people back in control of the government.
