The 2026 session of the Missouri House of Representatives has now begun. With many bills and ideas left over from last year’s work, this legislature proves to be important. Representative Keith Elliot is in Jefferson City to protect our rights while building a safe future. He is working to remove political feelings for the benefit of Missouri citizens.

His Projects

Elliott has filed two pieces of legislation. One modifies provisions relating to school protection officers. The other urges the United States Congress to reinstate mandatory country-of-origin labeling.

Funds

He will work with Governor Kehoe as he cuts more than $600 million from core general revenue to address a projected $2 billion structural imbalance, while preserving funding for K–12 and higher education and maintaining essential state services.

Priorities

Public safety remains the top priority. The other top priority is eliminating the state income tax through a voter-approved constitutional amendment.  Additionally, Missouri received approval to invest more than $814 million in federal funds to expand broadband access to over 200,000 unserved or underserved locations across the state, particularly in rural areas.  And that includes Oregon County.

Education

Finally, state education officials reported strong gains in school performance and student outcomes.

We will be following Representative Elliot as he makes decisions regarding our futures.
