There are only four NFL teams remaining in contention for the Super Bowl LIII. You used to have to have a strong defense to get into the Super Bowl; now times seem to have changed. These four teams still striving for a ticket to the Super Bowl all have one thing in common, and it doesn’t have to do with having the best defense.

No More Defense

The Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots, Los Angeles Rams, and the Los Angeles Rams are the last four teams still contending for the Super Bowl LIII. Normally teams rely heavily on a strong defense to get them through games and into the Super Bowl. This year, however, it seems that a great offense has been the star of every game.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs have the top offense of the NFL. The Chiefs led the league with over 40 points scored per game they played in during the 2018-2019 regular season. Their young quarterback, Patrick Mahomes managed to make 50 touchdown passes that season. They also made over 5,000 passing yards during the regular season which averaged 425.6 yards per game and put them number one in the NFL offense rankings.

Los Angeles Rams

The Rams are second on that list with 421.1 yards per game and over 500 total points in the regular season. Their quarterback, Jared Goff threw 32 touchdown passes and their running back, Todd Gurley, scored 17 rushing touchdowns in the season. With those numbers, the Rams were easily ranked in the top five in the NFL’s passing and rushing yards per game.

New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints also put up a good offensive game. Their Quarterback, Drew Brees, broke the NFL passing record and averaged 266.1 passing yards per game. Bree also ended the regular season throwing 32 touchdowns.

New England Patriots

The Patriots is a well known Super Bowl contender, making it to the playoffs almost every year. This year they averaged 27.3 points per game in their regular season and ranked fifth in the NFL with 393.4 yards of total offense per game. Their quarterback has tossed 29 touchdown passes and recorded over 4,000 passing yards.

Who’s Going to the Super Bowl LIII?

On Sunday the Kansas City Chiefs will take on the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams will go up against the Los Angeles Rams. The clock is ticking down with barely two weeks left until the Super Bowl. No matter who wins the games on Sunday, we’ll still be seeing the two of the best offensive teams compete against each other on February 3rd.
