Thayer Bobcats Head To District Finals With Win Over Pirates

Thayer, Mo. – The Thayer Bobcats went up against the Ash Grove Pirates on Friday, November 5, 2021, at 7:00 pm at the Louis Bozman Field. The Bobcats won by a wide margin of 37 points.

Interception By Bobcats

The Pirates started with the ball. The Bobcats intercepted a pass intended for a Pirate. The Bobcats went down the field and got a touchdown. The extra point was no good.

Pirate Touchdown

Griffin Willison (#22), linebacker for the Bobcats, sacked the Pirates quarterback with 7:23 left in the quarter. Sammy Moreland (#2 for the Pirates) ran into the endzone for a touchdown to tie the score up 6-6.

Touchdowns For Thayer

Just 14 seconds after the Pirate touchdown, Lane Grimes (#24, wide receiver for the Bobcats) got a touchdown for the Bobcats. For the two-point conversion, Grimes caught the pass. The score was 14-6.

When the Pirates had the ball again, they tried to move down the field, but instead, the quarterback got intercepted by Lane Grimes. The Bobcats moved down the field and Jackson Willison (#2, running back for the Bobcats) got the touchdown with 23.4 left in the quarter. The Bobcats tried for a two-point conversion and got it from Kyrin Magnuson (#4, tight end for the Bobcats). The score at the end of the first quarter was 22-6.

Lengthening The Score

Two minutes into the second quarter, Rowan Spencer (#9, wide receiver for the Bobcats) ran into the endzone for a Bobcat touchdown. Landry Pitts (#10, quarterback for the Bobcats) did a quarterback sneak for the two-point conversion. The score was 30-6.

Plays By Pirates

Brock Mooneyham (#9, quarterback for the Pirates) lost the snap and the Pirates lost 5 yards. Nate Trammell (#28 for the Pirates) had a good run for 20 yards down the field. With 8:11 left in the half, Brock Mooneyham intercepted a Bobcat ball, but nothing came out of it.

Quarterback Touchdown

With 3:57 left in the half, Landry Pitts of the Bobcats did a quarterback sneak and ran into the endzone. The extra point was no good. The score was 36-6.

70-yard Return

On a kickoff, Nate Trammell ran for 70-yards and almost got a touchdown. But a valiant effort by three Bobcats ruined the would-be touchdown. Just two yards from the endzone, Eric Simer (#7, defensive back for the Bobcats) tackled Trammell. The Pirates got a touchdown from the run that moved the score to 36-12.

Final Touchdown In The Half

Not to be outdone, the Bobcats got a touchdown with 0:57 left in the half by Rowan Spencer. The score at halftime was 42-12 with the Bobcats in the lead.

Last Points In The Game

Landry Pitts (from the Bobcats) had another quarterback sneak into the endzone in the third quarter. The extra point was good. After a good run, Rowan Spencer had some cramps in his leg. After a couple of minutes he walked off the field. Spencer was all right and soon joined in again in the game. The final score was 49-12 with the Bobcats winning.

District Finals

The Thayer Bobcats (8-3) are going up against the Marionville Comets (11-0) on November 12, 2021, at 7:00 pm in the district finals. [1]
