Summer is a break from routine. Although we live near the beautiful Eleven Point River, many people choose to vacation elsewhere. However, when traveling, you must take extra precautions to bring your pet. Here are some suggestions to add to your planning list.
Collar/Leashes
Pets need collars to identify them as belonging. They need leashes for protection against traffic. Not everyone appreciates a loose dog running up to them. This is not a good time to use a worn-out collar or leash.
Crate
While you may think a crate is comparable to a jail, your pet does not think so. It is his comfortable home, filled with homey scents. He also knows his boundaries and can readily please his master while staying in. The crate relieves stress when travelling. Your beloved pet cannot escape from the vehicle. He can stay behind the driver to avoid distractions.
Water Bottles And Travel Bowls
Each time you drink, offer some to your pet. Dehydration on vacation is not an inviting thought. Travel bowls are available at most pet stores. Whether you need the room and choose a fold-up bowl, or opt for an extra bowl similar to the one at home, make the most of it for your pet. It is advisable to have a separate bowl for traveling than the one used at home. This avoids coming home and having lost the travel one.
Toys
Just like at home, your pet will get bored. Bring his favorite toys. Alternatively, you can purchase new ones specifically for the trip. Although sleeping while traveling is good, once the hotel is reached, the dog’s energy may explode. A toy could help alleviate the energy.
Vaccines
Be sure to check the vaccination pet requirements before you go. Some states require more than Missouri does.
Purchase
These items can be purchased at most pet food stores (like Petco or Chewy), or the pet aisles in grocery stores (like Walmart). With a small amount of effort, you and your pet can enjoy a vacation.
