AltonMo.com is having its Second Annual Photo Contest on October 4, 2025, at the 40th Annual Black Gold Walnut Festival. The photo contest was a success last year and looks to be an even better success this year!
Who Can Enter
Anyone, no matter the age and where you live, can enter the photo contest.
How To Enter
AltonMo.com will have a booth at the Black Gold Walnut Festival. Bring your printed out picture (between a 4×6 and 8×10) to the booth starting at 10:00 am when the festival starts. Your name and cell phone number (optional: the category the picture is in) must be put on the back of the picture.
Voting
Voting will begin when the festival starts at 10:00 am. Voting will stop at 1:00 pm. The judges for the contest are the people. You can buy tickets and vote for your favorite picture. Everyone who votes will also get a chance to win a chair donated by Simpson’s True Value. Tickets are 1 for $1 or 6 for $5.
Categories
The categories for the photo contest this year are as follows: black and white, people, patriotism, and catch-all.
Proceeds
All the proceeds from the photo contest will go to the Alton Fire Department.
Winners
There will be first-, second-, and third-place winners for each category as well as a super-winner from among all the voters. Prizes are being donated by local businesses. Winners will be notified by phone. If the winners do not pick up their prize within an hour, a new winner will be notified.
The Rules
The rules for the contest are as follows (they are just reiterating what has previously been said):
- You can enter any size print photo between a 4×6 and an 8×10.
- Photos must be printed out; digital images will not be accepted.
- On the back of the printed photo, list your name and cell phone number (so the winner can be notified via text).
- That individual will be disqualified if the AltonMo.com team cannot read the writing.
- Any age can enter.
- There is no cost to enter.
- Photo contest entrants must own the picture they are submitting.
- Each category will have a first-, second-, and third-place winner, as well as a super winner among the voters.
- Entrants can vote for their own photo.
- Individuals can vote as many times as they want to for however many pictures they want.
- There is no entry deadline, but the voting will stop at 1:00 pm.
- To vote, tickets are $1 for 1 vote or $5 for 6 votes.
- Proceeds from the photo contest will go to the Alton Fire Department.
- A new winner will be chosen if the winners do not claim their prizes within an hour of being contacted.
- All unclaimed prizes will go to the face of AltonMo.com, also known as Amanda Thomas, and the multimedia manager, also known as Curtis Thomas.
