Alton, Mo. – Local elections occur on the first Tuesday in April. This year, that date is April 7. This is not the Missouri primaries, which lead to the general elections in November. In contrast, these are our local elections for mayors, aldermen, local taxes, school board members, and other issues directly related to Oregon County. Although some registered voters may dismiss this election as unimportant, this election determines who locally regulates our money and laws. These are the ones we can touch right away when something goes amiss, quicker than our state senators and representatives or the Governor, quicker than our federal officials.

Where To Vote?

These elections are held statewide. Elections will be held in Alton, Thayer, and Koshkonong, as well as throughout Oregon County.  It is important to be aware of who is running for what position, and to be knowledgeable of the other ballot measures, like takes. Simply reading over the ballots before going in to vote can help you make better decisions.
