Alton, Mo. – Do you have a student who is good at artwork? This may be the opportunity for him! The Oregon County 4-H Region is hosting a youth farm animal art show. While the 4-H is hosting this event, one need not be a member of the 4-H to participate. The judging is in April, so get your pens and paper ready!
What Is This?
The 4-H is hosting a youth art contest. aiming at farm animals. Do you live on a farm? Do you live near one? Do you know someone who has a farm? Do you know what a cow looks like? Answering yes to any of these questions can put you on track for a possible win in the art contest.
What To Draw?
Each entry must depict a farm animal or a farm scene. Only 2- dimensional artwork will be accepted. One can use ink, crayons, oils, watercolors, acrylics, markers, or pencils. No photographs accepted.
Also, the artwork must be matted on lightweight white or black poster or art board. Framed artwork is accepted. Non-matted artwork will not be eligible for prizes.
Who Can Enter?
This contest is open to all kindergarten through twelfth graders. One can be in a public school, a private school, or a home school. This event is open to all kids in our community — not just 4-H members. There is no fee to enter.
When Is This?
The contest has started. One needs to submit their entry to the 4-H office at the County Extension office before April 3, 2026. The artwork will be displayed in the Oregon County Courthouse from April 13-17. Winners will advance to the regional art show on April 28, 2026, in Poplar Bluff. Participants will be honored with an ice cream social. Prizes will be awarded at each grade level, along with a ‘Best of Show’ award.
Voting
The community can vote on their artwork via Facebook or in person at the courthouse.
