While Trump battles tariff wars, another company has decided to move its plants to America to avoid tariffs. Chobani began its yogurt production in New York twenty years ago. However, due to high taxes, it left the country. Under Trump, it is moving back here.

Chobani Known For?

Chobani is known for its yogurt, specifically its Greek-style yogurt. Chobani controls around one-fifth of the American yogurt market. In March, Chobani had announced that it would invest $500 million to expand an Idaho factory.

Workforce

Chobani will build a $1.2 billion production facility in Rome, New York. The facility will be capable of producing over one billion pounds of dairy products per year and will create more than 1,000 jobs, according to a press release from Governor Hochul’s office.

They will work with dedicated dairy farmers and the resilient community.

The founder stated that they will be

partnering with hard-working people across the heartland of New York to build an ecosystem of natural food production and nourish families throughout the country [1].

The facility, once at full capacity, will process over 12 million pounds of milk per day, and will nearly double Chobani’s workforce in the state

Reason For New York

Chobani Founder and CEO Hamdi Ulukaya said in a statement that New York is where Chobani’s journey began twenty years ago, and it’s the perfect place to continue their story.
