An In-N-Out Burger in Pleasant Hill, California, was closed indefinitely by the Contra Costa Environmental Health (CCEH) on October 26, 2021, for not checking customers vaccination status.

Fines For In-N-Out

The In-N-Out Burger was fined multiple times before being closed. On October 14, 2021, they were fined $250 and on October 19th, they were fined $500.

“Necessary To Save Lives”

Dr. Chris Farnitano, Contra Costa County Health Officer, said that the closure is necessary to save lives.

This order is necessary now to save lives, protect our overburdened healthcare system, and slow the pandemic enough to keep our schools open. [1]

The health officer went on to say that it also will help reduce future spikes in COVID-19.

Reducing community transmission of the virus now is key to preventing future spikes in cases from overwhelming our county’s hospitals during the winter months. [2]

Other Closings

The closing of the restaurant in Pleasant Hill comes after a temporary closing of another In-N-Out in San Francisco. They are now open for drive-thru.
