Alton, Mo. –The AltonMo.com field team set up a booth at the 40th Annual Black Gold Walnut Festival on October 4, 2025, to hold its second annual photo contest.
Entries
The four categories were people, patriotism, catch-all, and black and white. There were over twenty pictures entered in the contest. Pictures ranged from flags to fireworks to mills to cows to cats to sunsets to autumn leaves to donkeys to deer.
Winners
First, second, and third place winners were selected in each category for a total of twelve winners. In multiple cases, there were ties so a random person decided which picture was best. A winner from all the voters was also chosen, getting a chair from Simpson’s True Value.
For the black and white category, the winners were as follows:
- 1st- Amanda Thomas
- 2nd- Brandon Shelton
- 3rd- Tammy Johnston
For the people category, the winners were as follows:
- 1st- J’ne Shelton
- 2nd- Vicky Barten
- 3rd- Jennifer Thomas
For the patriotism category, the winners were as follows:
- 1st- Amanda Thomas
- 2nd- Tammy Johnston
- 3rd- Crystal Pinson
For the catch-all category, the winners were as follows:
- 1st- Crystal Pinson
- 2nd- Tammy Johnston
- 3rd- Crystal Pinson

Prize Sponsors

Proceeds
All the proceeds from the photo contest went to the Alton Volunteer Fire Department. The total raised was $79.00.
