Fireworks at the Thayer Missouri 4th of July Fireworks

Alton, Mo. – This week, our country will celebrate its 249th birthday. Fireworks celebrations and festivities are planned throughout Oregon County. Here is what you need to know to plan your fun! Whether you want large crowds, small crowds, or a rodeo, Oregon County has it all! All fireworks celebrations are family-friendly.

Thursday, July 3

Alton is having its Independence Day celebrations. Every year, the festivities take place at Piney Creek Park, which is east of Alton on US 160. The gates open at 5:00 pm. The event begins at 6:00 p.m. with live music and vendor booths adjacent to children’s games. Fireworks go off at dark. There is no cost.

Friday July 4

Thayer

Thayer has a large fireworks celebration planned. The gates to the Thayer High School football field open at 5:00 pm. The evening will feature skydivers, free watermelon (while supplies last), live music, food, and game vendors, all leading up to the grand fireworks show. The fireworks begin at dusk. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs to sit on.

Rover

Faith Tabernacle Church is hosting its annual revival and fireworks celebration. While the revival begins on Wednesday, July 2, it continues nightly through the fourth. On the fourth, the service starts at 7 pm. Following that, they offer food, volleyball, and basketball. Fireworks follow when it gets dark.

July 5

On Saturday, July 5, 2025, Thomasville celebrates the holiday with its annual rodeo. The evening begins with the rodeo at 7 pm. The entry fee is $5 per person. While the sheep and calf roping are entertaining, they set you up for quite a display of fireworks. Patriotic music accompanies the show. Following the fireworks, the rodeo continues long into the morning hours. They do offer ice cream and other food vendors.

Also on Saturday, Richards Canoe Rental in Alton is hosting a fireworks display. After floating the river, stick around for a grand show!

Weather

As of today, the weather is not forecast to be wet. With different choices and areas to enjoy the fireworks, and being considered a holiday weekend, why not take time this coming weekend to appreciate the land you live in?
