Alton, Mo. – This is another election year. Although we do not choose our President, we have many contested races locally. It is each person’s responsibility to decide who best represents them in the office they are running for. To keep voters informed, AltonMo.com has a sample ballot. On the sample ballot, there are important tax-related initiatives to decide on, too. We urge each voter to read over the information and to look into each candidate.
Primaries
In the primary elections, we vote along party lines. This means that you cannot vote for one Republican and two Democrats. The ballot will be for one party only. As you read through the names on the ballots, you can decide which political party- Democrat, Libertarian, or Republican- you want to vote for. Here’s the ballot: August 4, 2026 Sample Ballots.
The primary elections are on August 4, 2026.
Republicans
Republicans have several candidates for each office. You can meet them at the Meet and Greet on Saturday. at the park. Bring your questions and concerns to speak in person.
Democrats
Although the Democrats have fewer candidates running, they expect close races for key positions.
Libertarian
This party does have candidates running for offices. Be sure to check them out before placing your ballot.
Propositions
Oregon County has eight propositions to decide on. Everyone has the same propositions. Keep in mind that this is how your money will be spent and who spends it. Nothing is free.
AltonMo.com urges each registered voter to get out and vote. It is our duty and right as free citizens in America.
