On July 4, 2026, the United States of America will celebrate its 250th birthday! That is a long time for a country to exist. To commemorate this time and bring our patriotism to our country, President Donald J. Trump announced a monumental year-long celebration to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence. This is set to commence on Memorial Day, May 26, 2025, starting this week, and conclude on July 4, 2026.
Name
Large events usually take on a name. While most people refer to this as America’s birthday, technically, it is actually a semiquincentennial. That means it is half as old as 500 years.
After the name, what is planned?
Parade
On June 14, 2025, there will be a parade. It coincides with the Army’s birthday, and, incidentally, President Trump’s birthday. That day will host a grand military parade complete with celebrations and flyovers. It begins at 6:30 pm in Washington, DC. You will need to reserve your space.
Area communities are planning parades for this event, fostering patriotism.
More?
Cities and states across the country are planning events now. The journey toward July 4, 2026, is an opportunity to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look ahead toward the future we want to create for the next generation and beyond. Rosie Rios, Chair, U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission, said,
It’s about honoring the contributions of individuals who built this country, the innovations that put this country on the map and a man on the moon, and imagining what the next 250 years might look like for our children and the generations to come [1].
National parks and museums are making plans. You can go to their site to research travel opportunities throughout the year.
Now is the time for Oregon County residents to plan a large celebration in honor of our country.
