Governor Mike Parson of Missouri gave the state of the state address on Wednesday, January 27, 2021. Here are some points made in the speech.

The Future Generation

One of the things Governor Parson talked about was the future generation, the children. Governor Parson wants to put several different programs and divisions into one office, the Office of Childhood. Governor Parson said,

To help strengthen Missouri’s early childhood system, we are excited to propose the consolidation of several different programs and divisions across three state agencies into one new office –the Office of Childhood.

Construction Continues

The governor also talked about construction continuing in Missouri. He talked of the “Focus on Bridges” program which, once it’s finished, will have repaired or replaced 250 bridges across Missouri. Governor Parson also said that construction will continue on the East Locust Creek reservoir, the Buck O’Neal Bridge in Kansas City, and a new overpass in West Plains among others.

Construction also continues on the East Locust Creek reservoir … and we continue to move forward with the Buck O’Neal Bridge in Kansas City, the new Rocheport Bridge along I-70, the I-270 interstate project in North County St. Louis, and a new overpass in West Plains.

COVID-19 Protection Bill

Governor Parson also said later in his speech, that he hopes that ” the first piece of legislation to hit my desk this year is a clean COVID-19 liability protection bill.” The Governor said that he didn’t want the stores and businesses being fined for unnecessary reasons.

None of these groups should be penalized for their efforts to help.

Internet

Another point Governor Parson hit on was fixing the digital gaps. He is asking for another $5 million dollars to improve broadband service across Missouri.

…I am once again asking for a $5 million dollar investment to expand and improve broadband services across the state.
