Kansas City, Mo. – On a snowy Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs went up against the Denver Broncos, which the Chiefs won 23-3. The game was a complete blow-out for the Broncos, this win was the Chief’s ninth straight win over the Broncos.

A Complete Blow-Out

In the first quarter, the Chiefs quickly made a touchdown and two 3-point field goals. For the touchdown pass, Patrick Mahomes threw for a 41-yard yard touchdown from Tyreek Hill, when they tried for the extra point, the holder, Dustin Colquitt, dropped the ball and had to throw it away. Later in the quarter, Patrick Mahomes ran for 20 yards, but there were penalties by both teams on that play, so they had to replay the first down. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 12-0, with the Broncos morale suffering.

In the second quarter, the Broncos made the only points in the game with a 3-point field goal. The Chiefs also got another 3-point field goal, and the score at halftime was 15-3.

The Second Half

In the second half, the snow was falling thicker, and as reporters on the field noted, it was the kind of snow that got in your eyes, making things hard to see. Tyreek Hill made his second touchdown of the game shortly into the second half, and the Chiefs tried for a 2-point conversion, which they got from a short pass from Patrick Mahomes to Sammy Watkins.

When the Broncos offense came back on the field, Kansas City’s safety Tyrann Mathieu intercepted the ball- the interception was ruled incomplete since the Chiefs had a penalty, so the Broncos got the ball back. But on the very next play, where the Broncos could’ve gotten a touchdown, Chiefs rookie defensive player Juan Thornhill intercepted the ball in the endzone. In the final quarter, Kansas City got the ball and went all the way down to the end zone, but when the Chiefs were about to score the Broncos intercepted the ball- it was Patrick Mahome’s second career end zone interception.

Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, completed 27 of 34, threw for 340 yards, threw for two touchdowns, had one interception, and had three carries for eleven yards. Mahomes had his fourth interception of the season.

The Chiefs are going up against the Chicago Bears in Chicago, Illinois at Soldier Field. The game will be on December 22 at 7:20 pm Central Time.
