Detroit, MI. – Arguably one of the toughest games the Chiefs have had so far this season was played on September 29th. The Chiefs went up against the Detroit Lions, barely taking the win with a final score of 34-30; bringing the Chiefs to 4-0.

An Exciting Game

The Lions were the only ones that made points in the first quarter- which was a three-pointer, a touchdown with a one-point field goal. In the second quarter the Chiefs made only one touchdown with the one-point field goal. The Lions made a few points as well, two three-point field goals. The halftime score was 13-13, tied, and remained anybody’s game.

Crazy Third Quarter

The third quarter was the most exciting out of all of the quarters. There were plenty of fumbles and interceptions made by both teams. One of the highlights of the game was when the Lions threw for a touchdown, but there was a fumble at the end zone, with the refrees calling it incomplete.

KC Chiefs defensive player, Bashaud Breeland, managed to grab the ball after the Lions fumbled it less than a yard from making a touchdown, and ran across the field, making a 100-yard touchdown for the Chiefs. The last four drives had all equaled to fumbles, from both teams. The Lions then made a three-point field goal, a touchdown, and their one-point field goal.

A Wild Game

In the fourth quarter, another highlight from the game was when Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw to tight end Travis Kelce who then threw it underhand, while getting tackled, to running back LeSean McCoy. The Chiefs later said that the play was not planned. Then the Chiefs made a touchdown, putting the score to 27-23, with the Chiefs in the lead. The Lions took a couple of minutes before making a touchdown and their field goal. The remaining time was about 2:00 minutes left in the fourth quarter. The Chiefs made a 1-minute 40-second drive that ended up as a touchdown and a field goal. The score was then put to 34-30 with the Chiefs in the lead. The Lions tried to get a touchdown and almost got one, but it was ruled as incomplete. The final score was 34-30 with the Chiefs winning.

A Decent Score

Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs quarterback, completed 24 of 42, threw for 315 yards, threw for three touchdowns, and had six carries for 54 yards. The players who got the touchdowns were, Bashaud Breeland, LeSean McCoy, and Darrel Williams who had two. The Chiefs were tested in this game, but they managed to pull off a win.

The Chief’s next game will be held at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri against the Indianapolis Colts. The game will be held on October 6, 2019, at 7:20 pm Central Time.
