Thayer Bobcats Win Home Opener Against Highland Rebels 46-16

Thayer, Mo. – The Thayer Bobcats went up against the Highland (Arkansas) Rebels at the Louis Bozman Field in Thayer, Missouri, on Friday, September 3, 2021. The Bobcats won 46-16.

Bobcats Jump Ahead

The Bobcats received the opening kickoff. They went down the field and Landry Pitts (#10), quarterback for the Bobcats, ran in for the touchdown. Jackson Willison (#2), running back for the Bobcats, ran in for the two-point conversion. When the Rebels got the ball, they were held back by the Thayer defense

Another Touchdown

Griffin Willison (#22), running back for the Bobcats, ran in for the second Bobcat touchdown. The extra point was no good. The score was then 14-0. With 0:47 left in the first quarter, Jackson Willison ran in for a touchdown. The score was 20-0.

Widening The Gap

At 9:04 left in the half, Griffin Willison ran in for his second touchdown of the night. The Bobcats went for the two-point conversion and got it with Zach Jones, (#75), offensive lineman for the Bobcats. To close out the half, Jackson Willison also ran in for his second touchdown of the night. The extra point was no good. The score at halftime was 33-0 with the Bobcats in the lead.

Slow Third Quarter

The defenses for both teams tried to hold the offense at bay in the third quarter. This failed for the Rebels however, when Griffin Willison ran in for a Bobcat touchdown with 7:07 left in the quarter. Zach Jones ran in for the two-point conversion. The score was 40-0.

Rebels Return

Jaiden Henderson (#8), wide receiver for the Rebels, tried to start a comeback by dodging the Bobcat players and getting a touchdown. He added two more points to the board with the two-point conversion.

Spencer Goes For A Touchdown

The Bobcats did not let the touchdown stop them. Immediately, on the kickoff return, Mark Spencer (#1), running back for the Bobcats, caught the kick and started running down the field. With help from his teammates blocking for him, he dodged the players and ran seventy yards down the field and into the endzone for a touchdown. The score was 46-8.

Last Points

Jaiden Henderson made the second Rebel touchdown with 3:50 left in the game. Henderson also got the two-point conversion. The final score was 46-16 with the Bobcats winning.
