Thayer Bobcats Win Homecoming Game Against Houston Tigers

Thayer, Mo. – The Thayer Bobcats went up against the Houston Tigers on Friday, September 24, 2021, at Louis Bozman Field in Thayer, Missouri. The Bobcats beat the Tigers 40-14.

Slow Beginning

Both teams started off slow. The first points scored in the game was at 0:11 to go in the first quarter. Jackson Willison (#2), running back for the Bobcats, got the first points of the game with a touchdown. The extra point was good. The score at the end of the first quarter was 7-0.

Switching Back And Forth

The Tigers met the touchdown with a touchdown of their own. They made the extra point. It was a tie game at that point. Three minutes later, Eric Simer (#7), wide receiver for the Bobcats, ran into the endzone for another Bobcat touchdown. The extra point was good. The score at that time was 14-7.

Touchdowns For Thayer

One of the Bobcats players got another touchdown with 0:51 left in the half, moving the score up to 20-7. Just when everyone thought there’s not going to be a great play before the half ended, Lane Grimes (#24), wide receiver for the Bobcats, intercepted the ball and ran 70-plus yards down the field for a touchdown. There was 0:2 seconds left in the half. The Bobcats did not get the extra point.

Houston Goes Big

The Houston Tigers were not to be outdone. Bailey Hurst (#8), running back for the Tigers, had a huge run to the endzone for a touchdown. The Tigers did get the extra point. The score at halftime was 26-14. During the play, Keaton Goetz (#50 for the Tigers) was injured. He did get up and walk to the bench.

Thayer Lengthens The Lead

During the third and forth quarter, the only points scored was from the Bobcats. Jackson Willison (#2 for the Bobcats) went into the endzone in the third quarter. The Bobcats did get the two-point conversion. The score at the end of the third quarter was 34-14.

With 11:01 left in the game, Lane Grimes (#24 for the Bobcats) had another big run into the endzone for another Bobcat touchdown. They were not able to make the extra point. The final score was 40-14 with the Bobcats taking home another win.
