Are you trying to add more protein to your diet? Do you have trouble waking up in the morning? Starbucks has heard your cry. Beginning September 29, 2025, Starbucks is adding protein-packed cold foam and lattes to its menu. They are appealing to customers desiring additional protein in their diets.
Why Protein?
From those who work out at gyms to those who use dietary supplements for weight loss, many Americans are trying to consume more protein, intending to build or maintain their muscle mass while feeling more satiated after meals. In the second quarter of 2025, a large number of U.S. consumers said they loved high protein. This number has increased from three years ago, according to Datassential, which tracks restaurant menus and consumer preferences.
How Much Added Protein?
Starbucks’ protein cold foam grande beverages will contain about 19 to 26 grams of protein, while the chain’s grande-sized protein latte will deliver 27 to 36 grams of protein.
What Flavors?
The protein cold foam will be available in a variety of flavors, including a new banana flavor, vanilla, matcha, chocolate, brown sugar, salted caramel, and plain. Seasonal flavors, like pumpkin, will also be available.
The protein lattes will have a protein-boosted milk foundation. This will be created daily by baristas by blending 2% milk with unflavored protein powder. Customers will be able to customize other drinks with the protein-boosted milk soon as well.
Reasoning
CEO Brian Niccol has pledged to bring the company “back to Starbucks” by improving the customer experience and introducing exciting menu items. Protein-infused drinks are just the start.
Next time you are out doing errands, do not hesitate to stop by Starbucks for a healthy pick-me-up.
