Have you gone outside and heard the familiar tap, tap, tap of a woodpecker? While electric linemen do not care for the harm done to electric poles, woodpeckers are a sight to see! The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is hosting a virtual class on woodpeckers.
What Is This?
The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will help bird enthusiasts find answers to questions about winter woodpeckers. MDC naturalists will take a dive into woodpeckers, members of the family Picidae, and some of Missouri’s most recognizable and charismatic birds.  Participants will explore the seven native woodpecker species found in the Show-Me State and learn how to identify each bird by sight and sound.
Each species of woodpecker stays with us all winter. And each one has its own special and fascinating story to tell. After the class, attendees will have an interactive question-and-answer session with the naturalists.

The class occurs on Wednesday, February 4, from 1 – 2:30 p.m.
