Alton, Mo. – The Oregon County Farmer’s Market is preparing for its grand opening. Residents in local areas are eager for their gardens to grow ‘immediately’ after a few warm days. While most gardeners have to wait a couple months before they can harvest edible garden foods, those in the Farmers’ Market program seem to be able to harvest them sooner, with enough to share. Here are some points you need to know.

Vouchers

New or returning vendors who wish to participate in the Senior Farmers Market Nutritional Vouchers and the WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Vouchers MUST participate in a training. This training is only offered once per year. This training is Tuesday, March 8, 2022. To register, please call 417-778-7490 or send a message though Facebook. The training begins at 10:30 a.m. The Alton Freewill Baptist Church will host this training session.

When Does The Market Open?

The Farmer’s Market in Alton is open in May through September, weather permitting. Although last year, in rainy weather, booths still set up under the pavilion.

Where Is The Farmer’s Market?

The farmer’s market is set up at the Alton Park. This is the Tucker Creek Park with the swimming pool. Vendors set up booths down the hill in the grassy areas. There is plenty of gravel parking along with shade for shopping.
