People often think about walking off the ‘extra holiday carbs’ gained from Thanksgiving through New Year’s. How about getting an early start on walking? Missouri Department of Conservation Shepherd of the Hills Education Center is hosting a “Walk Off The Turkey Program.” Join them while thinking about leftovers.
What Is This?
The MDC is hosting a one-mile hike along Lake Taneycomo. While walking, an MDC naturalist will share fun facts about wild turkeys.
They ask that attendees wear closed-toed walking or hiking shoes, bring water, and dress for the weather. Leashed pets are allowed on trails.
When Is This?
This occurs on Saturday, November 29, 2025, between 10 and 11 am. This does not detract from your Thanksgiving Day celebrations. Plus, it will de-stress you when you shop over the weekend.
Where Is This?
Participants will meet in front of the Conservation Education Center at the Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery, 483 Hatchery Road in Branson. As you take a break from your holiday shopping, take a calming walk through nature.
Who Can Attend?
This event is open to those ages five and up. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required.
If you have additional questions or concerns, do not hesitate to call 417-334-4865.
