Young Writers Workshop Being Held At West Plains Library This Week

The West Plains Council on the Arts is hosting a Young Writers Workshop at the West Plains library from July 10th-14th, 2023. This is geared towards kids ages nine through eighteen.

Cost

The cost is $10 per day or $35 for Monday through Thursday. For Friday, the cost is $15. [1] You can register here. At any time during the week, you can sign up.

When

The workshop will be from Monday, July 10, 2023, through Friday, July 14, 2023, between 1:00 and 4:00 pm.

Monday

Monday through Thursday is geared more towards nine to fourteen-year-olds. Friday is geared towards fifteen through eighteen years old. Monday concentrates on poetry. The guest speaker is Dave Malone, a poet, filmmaker, and educator from the Missouri Ozarks. [2]

Tuesday

The topic for Tuesday is fiction. Local author of seven authors Annie England Noblin will be the speaker.

Wednesday

Journalism will be discussed on Wednesday. Abby Hess, who works with the West Plains Daily Quill, will be the guest speaker.

Thursday

Thursday will highlight non-fiction. The presenter for the non-fiction will be Dr. Brooks Blevins.

Friday

Friday will be a two-part session that covers scholarships and resume writing. Leigh Adams from MSU-WP and Taj Singh from South Central Career Center will be the guest speakers.

Sessions

Along with the speakers, the attendees can put to use their new-learned knowledge in a session-specific project at the end of each day’s offering
