Missouri Department of Conservation is reminding its residents that deadlines are fast approaching. By the end of May, applications for bear and elk hunting are due.

Black Bear

Black bear hunting applicants need to apply before the end of May [1]. The season will take place in October, but only 40 bears will be harvested. This also takes place in southern Missouri. Hunters apply for a permit as well as a particular zone in which to hunt [2].

Elk

MDC is allowing only five elk permits again this year. One will be for a landowner. This season is also an application process for a permit. This season will consist of archery as well as firearm season. Permits are assigned through a random drawing.

Anyone who wishes to yet apply to partake in either of these hunts can go here to purchase your application online. Just remember, applications need to be in before May 31 to be counted as valid.
