Alton, Mo. – Independence Day fun is traditionally celebrated on our country’s birthday: July 4. However, when several towns are near each other, they often celebrate on different days in different ways. That is true in Oregon County, Missouri. While official fireworks are set for Tuesday, some begin as early as Saturday. Here is where and when the fun happens.
Saturday
Beginning on Saturday, July 1, 2023, Thomasville has its Independence Day Celebration. Gates open at 5, with a rodeo at 6 pm. This happens behind the Community Center. Fireworks begin at dusk. Assorted vendors will be present selling concessions. They do charge a $5 admission fee.
Sunday
Use this day to attend your house of worship and praise Him, who allowed this country to become what it is today.
Monday
Monday, Alton has its fireworks show. The gates open at 5:00 pm at Piney Creek Park. More vendors selling a conglomeration of food snacks will be ringing the track. Children’s activities like bounce houses will be present. Fireworks go off at dusk.
Tuesday
Thayer celebrates with fireworks on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. They are having vendors and fun at the Thayer High School football field. Gates open at 5:00 pm. They have free watermelon, live music, and even a skydiver. Fireworks begin at dusk.
Friday, July 7
Faith Tabernacle in Rover has its fireworks celebration. Beginning on July 2, 2023, they are hosting a revival every evening throughout the week. Services begin at 7:00 pm. Come one night or every night. The culmination of the revival is the BBQ and fireworks celebration. They invite the community to come for worship, food, and fireworks. This begins at 7:00 pm also.
