Thayer And Mammoth Spring Plan A Fun-Filled Eclipse Weekend

Solar eclipse

Thayer, Missouri, and Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, are on the ball. With the total solar eclipse coming up in just 33 days, the two cities have planned some fun festivities for the weekend.

Cruse-In

There will be a cruise-in on Friday, April 6, 2024, between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm. [1] This will be at the Thayer High School. Between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm, the band, 3rd Cut, will perform. Food vendors will also be around. The first 250 visitors will receive free eclipse glasses.

Eclipse Festival

Later in the day, on April 6th, there will be an eclipse festival at the Thayer High School starting at 4:00 pm. There will be kids’ games, food vendors, bouncy houses, and more. [2] There will also be a fireworks show at 8:00 pm. This festival will be similar to the annual Independence Day celebration Thayer puts on. The first five hundred people at the event will receive free eclipse glasses. If possible, coordinators will try to get the AirEvac helicopter to land on the football field. [3]

Bands

Live bands will also be performing throughout the evening. From 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, the Jumping Jacks Band will play, and from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, the Highway Band will play.

Knap In

On April 6th and 7th, there will be flint knapping exhibitions between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. [4] This will be at the Mammoth Spring State Park near the ballfield.

Eclipse Safety Tips

Also, eclipse safety tips will be taught on April 6th and 7th at the Mammoth Spring State Park Welcome Center. [5] One can learn the basics of eclipse safety at this event.
