Alton, Mo. – Tuesday, April 4, 2023, was a day for local elections around the state. Oregon County was no different. With school board positions to fill and tax use money be decided, voters did come out to decide the future. Here are the results.

Oregon County Use Tax

This did pass with 558 votes against 359 no’s.

Alton R-IV School Board

Voters were to choose three for the school board. Bart Kernodle and Brad Fettig received the most votes of 324 and 315 votes. Mark Holman received the next nomination with 270 votes.

Alton R-IV Levy

This tax levy was voted down by 37% to 62%.

Couch School Board

Voters were to choose three for the board. A close race brought Anthony Thomas McIntare into the lead. He was followed in numbers by James Brent Morgan and Thomas D. Smith.

Oregon-Howell RIII School Board

Voters were to choose three people to represent them on the school board. Kevin Brashear won with the most votes. Alongside him is Kerry Bussell. There is a tie for the third nomination between Nathan Tate and Joan Billingsley.

Oregon-Howell R-III Kosh Proposition

The voters did decide on the proposition. 53% of voters did vote yes for the Koshkonong School District.

Oregon-Howell R-III Prop Maintain

This proposition did pass with 62% of the votes.

Thayer

Mayor

One person ran for mayor, and he won: Ken Cotham.

Ward 1 Alderman

One person ran for office, and he won: Dirk Schultz.

Ward 2 Alderman

One person ran for office here, and he won: Kenneth McKenzie.

Thayer Question

The Thayer question passed with 62% of the votes of only 33.

Koshkonong Alderman

One person ran for this office. Sue Grant did win the position.

Totals

A total of 917 voters showed up to cast their ballots yesterday. In many instances, the count was close, even tied. Thank you to all who showed their American duty to vote. And a big thank you for those who give their time to serve our local municipalities.
