Alton, Mo. – The Couch High School boys basketball team faced off against the Lutie Indians on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Couch High School. Couch kept the lead the entire game, eventually winning 68-32.
First Quarter
For the first five and a half minutes of the game, Couch dominated, creating a 9-0 lead. Nicholas Cown (3 for Lutie) started the momentum for Lutie with a steal and a score. Not to be outdone, Dylan Larsen (3 for Couch) made two back-to-back three-pointers, making the score 15-4 at halftime.
Double the Scores
In the second quarter, Couch and Lutie started double-teaming each other. Dalton Royer (13 for Couch) made a three-pointer for Couch, making the score 24-10. With under a minute left in the half, both teams made several steals, ending in points for both teams. The score at halftime was 35-14, with Couch leading.
3-Pointers Everywhere
Royer started the third quarter with an immediate three-pointer. Couch came off with a shout, getting multiple steals and a three-pointer from both Larsen and Royer. With under two minutes left in the quarter, Larsen made another three-pointer for Couch. The score at the end of the third quarter was 55-23.
Couch Wins
Donovan Homer (1 for Lutie) made a three-pointer for his team at the beginning of the fourth quarter, making the score 59-27. Lutie tried a new strategy in the final quarter, keeping Larsen and Royer from making three-pointers. Couch adapted and adjusted to relying on Caden Massey (15 for Couch) making points from underneath the basket. The final score was 68-32, with Couch taking the win. The Couch Indians will now face off against the Eminence Redwings on February 26th at Bunker High School in the district semifinals. [1]
