Alton, Mo. – Once again Alton, MO held an Easter sunrise service. On Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019, the First Baptist Church of Alton, MO opened its doors to welcome the community to an early resurrection service.
In accordance with the ministerial alliance, this church held the sunrise service. At 5:00 a.m. the men of the church met to begin preparing the breakfast. Although this is not their usual job, they gathered together with cheerful hearts to make much food for everyone present and then some.
At 6:30 a.m. the service opened. Pastor Kelly led the service with congregational singing. Mrs. Kelly, his wife, accompanied him on the piano. His daughter played the violin while he played the guitar. Mr. Kelly’s father also came and sang a solo. When the music finished, he spoke on the Resurrection. He is the pastor of the Freewill Baptist Church in Symrna, MO.
After the service in the fellowship hall of the church, the aroma of food wafted through every room. The men had prepared fresh fruit cut up, scrambled eggs, sausage patties, biscuits, and gravy. Juice and coffee were also provided. As the men were not used to making food to this large scale on a regular basis, much food was laid out on the tables.
The ministerial alliance is a group of local church leaders to promote welfare in the community. They forget their differences and concentrate on what they do agree on.
