Do you have a dog that likes to run? If you do, this is right for you. A Dog Jog is being held in West Plains, Missouri, on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at 6:30 pm.


There is a 1.5 mile run/walk, a 5K (3.1 miles), and there is a virtual dog jog.


If you and your canine buddy want to do the 1.5 mile run/walk, it will cost $25. For the 5K, it costs $25. If you have a family of three or more, it is $20 per person. The virtual dog jog is $30. [1]

Virtual Dog Jog

For the virtual dog jog, go run your favorite route then post it to the Heart of the Ozarks Half Marathon or Talburt Animal Hospital and they will send you a shirt and a dog tag. The price for entering includes shipping. [2]


Awards will be given out to the top three male and female runners in the 5K, the top five overall winners in the 1.5 mile, the “top dog” in each race, and division awards in the 5K. There will also be refreshments and door prizes for the participants. [3]

What Does It Benefit

The proceeds of the dog jog will go the the West Plains Cross Country and Track Teams to help withe travel and other expenses. [4]

Dr. Gunter and his wife Alicia, coordinate this fun dog jog. The Annual Dog Jog has been held every year since 2004.
