Whether we hate it or love it, Daylight Savings Time (DST) is coming to an end, tomorrow, Sunday, November 6, 2022. This is when we move our clocks back one hour.

Daylight Savings

Daylight Savings Time began on March 13, 2022, and is ending on November 6, 2022.

The History

DST was used during both World Wars to make the most of the daylight. Daylight Savings Time officially began in the United States when Congress passed the Uniform Time Act in 1966. [1] People say that DST saves energy, saves lives, and reduces crime. In the summer when it is DST, it gets darker later giving you more time to accomplish your work.

No DST?

On March 15, 2022, the U.S. Senate unanimously passed the Sunshine Protection Act which would make DST permanent. The U.S. House has not yet voted on it.

Pro/Con

Depending on how you view Daylight Savings Time, you may either be for the falling back or against the falling back. Two opinions are, “I get an extra hour or sleep,” or, “I lose one hour of daylight.” Either way, if our state has DST we must change our clocks until something changes.
