Jefferson City, Mo. – Teenagers, mostly homeschooled, across the state of Missouri met in Jefferson City for the Missouri III state class from April 14-18, 2025, to learn more about how the government works and how to grow their relationship in Christ.
Four-Day Class
The four-day class had just under forty students attending. The teens got to worship together, have daily committees, listen to two speakers and ask them questions, go on prayer walks, run for various positions including clerk, chairman, senator, and governor, and participate in a mock legislature. The first-time students had the opportunity to go on legislative, executive, judicial, and lobbyist field experiences. Alumni students had an alumni track where they delved into the topic of judicial review.
In the evenings, the students participated in free time where they played volleyball, spike ball, basketball, and ultimate frisbee. They also had evening worship, an evening session, and rendezvous. Afterwards, there was coffeehouse, where the kids could hang out, play some games, play volleyball, or just talk.
PCW
On Friday, a Political Communications Workshop (PCW) was held. Around twenty teens participated. Although the PCW may sound boring, there is much laughter and fun times throughout the class. Teens are split up into teams where everyone has a position: campaign manager, grassroots coordinator, candidate, and communications coordinator. Students participate in a trading game, press conferences, speeches, and door-to-door campaigning.
One-Day Class
Also on Friday is the one-day class for 8-12 year olds. These up-and-coming kids go through essentially the same thing that the four-day class students went through. The 8-12 year olds participate in prayer walks, worship, committee meetings, mock legislature, and elections. Around twenty kids participated in this class.
